The Packaging Cluster celebrates its Annual Assembly with 128 associates, 19 ongoing projects, 43 activities for 2022 and new services such as the Packaging Observatory

On June 2, the Packaging Cluster held its Annual Assembly in Sabadell, the space in which the associates of the non-profit organization meet to learn about and approve the strategy that is being carried out insofar as projects , activity, budget, news or future focus.

The event had the institutional welcome of Pol Gibert Horcas, Deputy Mayor of the Sabadell City Council; Lluís Juncà i Pujol, General Director of Innovation of the Government of Catalonia; and Martina Font i Olivé, President of the Packaging Cluster and Corporate and Innovation Director of the Font Packaging Group, who inaugurated the assembly session for this year 2022. Among what was commented by the public representatives, the figure of the cluster in the economic development of the city of Sabadell and Vallés Occidental or the contribution of innovation from the companies that make up the entity, which are benchmarks in Catalonia.

The agenda consisted of a reading of the minutes of the 2021 Assembly, the approval of the 2022 Activity Plan and the presentation of the projects carried out, the Annual Report on the registration and cancellation of members and the examination and approval of the management of the Board of Directors and Annual Accounts for the 2021 financial year, with the approval of the 2022 Budget.

During the assembly meeting, the growth of the entity that today brings together nearly 130 associates, a fifth of the companies dedicated to packaging in Catalonia, was highlighted. In the last period, 2021, 28 companies and organizations joined the cluster.

The average number of activities organized by the Packaging Cluster is not shy either, 43 sessions planned for 2022. 43 spaces in which to connect with the entity's business fabric and learn about the future of the sector, with an average of more than 3 activities a month.

Among the data highlighted during the Assembly, the recent services offered by the entity were presented, such as the Packaging Observatory or the Next Generation Projects Office. And it is that there are 19 collaborative innovation projects underway, which receive public funding from aid packages from the European Commission, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism of the Government of Spain or the Agència per la Competitivitat de l'Empresa. The success rate in the presentation of initiatives that will transform the packaging sector is 68%.

In the next three years, it is planned to go from an annual budget of more than €500,000 to €725,000 in 2025, and to grow the work team, which today has 8 people. Revenues grew by 43% in the last year, driven by the new services and projects carried out, in which 64 companies have been involved.

As a final touch, Joan Planes, Founder of one of the companies with the highest turnover in the entire Spanish state, Fluidra, explained to those present and connected, his vital and professional experience in the creation of the leading company. At the end, he signed and his autobiography "Camí de Castanyes", a document that collects his experiences and knowledge.
