New recovery plan to transform the industry and move it towards a digital green model

  • On April 14 and 15, the Packaging Cluster attended the European Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation, Transfiere 2021, to learn first-hand about the innovations that mark the forefront of knowledge and research
  • The day before, on March 13, the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain was presented, which will allocate close to 70,000 million euros to support measures for SMEs and the circular economy, among other matters.

The entity's Cluster Manager, Àlex Brossa, traveled to the city of Malaga to attend the Transfiere, the European Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation, which took place on April 14 and 15.

An edition that has hosted more than 2,000 professionals, 200 speakers, 30 universities and about 30 clusters from all over Spain with which to share experiences in promoting research and innovation through projects that attract international funds such as the popular Next Generation EU.

The Packaging Cluster participated in the 2021 Clusters Congress as Agrupación Empresarial Innovadora (AEI), organized by Clusters.es, the National Federation of AEI and Clusters of Spain, with a series of colloquia on strategy, innovation or financing programs.

In the cluster meeting, within the framework of Transfiere, a total of 13 meetings were held with Universities, Research Institutes, Technology Centers and Knowledge Transfer offices, with the aim of connecting solutions and sharing research avenues.

In adittion and one day before starting Transfiere, the Government of Spain announced the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (2021-2023) as part of the European Next Generation recovery funds, a plan that will allocate close to 70,000 million euros to more than 200 measures to promote digital investment, the green model, education and science.

As a cluster entity, there are two budget lines that are especially beneficial for its associates within this program, such as the “Pymes Digitization Plan” with more than 4,060 million euros and the “New Industrial Policy Spain 2030 and Circular Economy Strategy” , of 3,780 million euros.

This entire package of measures will represent a inflection point in the improvement of the current economic and social model, as it is a common strategy to modernize company structures, housing policy, justice, the energy efficiency system or investment in science, among other matters. A recovery process where the transformation will be led by referent entities that represent the sector, such as clusters, which will strategical in the construction of our future thanks to the collaboration between key actors.
