MEDIATION – A GOOD SOLUTION FOR BUSINESS AND JUSTICE

The Pomeranian Arbitration and Mediation Center together with Partners: the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk and the District Court in Gdańsk organized a conference on October 17 this year. The first part of the conference focused on mediation discussions at the pre-trial criminal stage, including in commercial matters.

The second part of the conference was entitled: mediation – international view. The specificity of mediation in Belgium was discussed by Dr. Mirosława Myszke-Nowakowska, legal advisor, mediator. Current mediation issues – an outline of the international market was presented in a colorful lecture by Jonathan Lux, Lux Mediation. Using examples from shipping and other business cases, he discussed the essence of court cooperation with a mediator and clients in Great Britain. In short, the isotope of mediation in Big Brother is – we mediate until we reach an agreement. Even until morning.

To the question: Mediation and arbitration in international matters – competitors or partners? Kaja Zaleska-Korziuk, lawyer, assistant at the Department of Commercial Law and International Private Law, WPiA UG tried to answer. What is the specificity of mediation in Norway was discussed by Anna Plata, a lawyer, mediator, and the legal responsibility of the mediator in the Polish legal system was described by Sławomira Pastuszak-Nicewicz, legal adviser, mediator.
