iTech Transilvania Cluster by ARIES T now in the European Network of Digital Innovation Hubs

iTech Transilvania Cluster by ARIES T is now participating in one of the 34 Digital Innovation Hubs in 13 countries that were selected by PwC following a European call for applications: Transilvania iHUB 4.0. The new programme offers practical training, the organization of special workshops and mentoring to develop entrepreneurial skills that will address previously identified needs. The result will be the development of a dedicated business plan for each of the selected entities.

The  training programme will start in February 2018 and it will include activities related to  how

  • to develop a business plan,
  • to identify the specific needs of industry in the respective regions,
  • to conduct feasibility studies,
  • to set-up potential funding schemes and
  • to organise regional workshops.

More details are to be found here: https://ec.europa.eu/digital-single-market/en/news/34-new-digital-innov….

Moreover, we are also mapped in the Digital Innovation Catalogue, developed by the European Commission, along with the other 522 DIHs, as a bottom-up initiative.

Digital Innovation Hubs are one-stop-shops that help companies to become more competitive with regard to their business/production processes, products or services using digital technologies. They are based upon technology infrastructure (competence centres) and provide access to the latest knowledge, expertise and technology to support their customers with piloting, testing and experimenting with digital innovations. DIHs also provide business and financing support to implement these innovations, if needed across the value chain. As proximity is considered crucial, they act as a first regional point of contact, a doorway, and strengthen the innovation ecosystem.

This comes for us as a natural development, given the fact that for the past 5 years, iTech Transilvania Cluster by ARIES T contributed heavily to the creation and support of the regional innovation eco-system in Transilvania, Romania, gathering a wide range of digital competences through its members and also having a close collaboration with the other clusters from the Northern Transilvanian Clusters Consortium: energy efficiency, furniture, creative industries, agriculture, new materials, etc.

iTech Transilvania Cluster is focused on building and support an efficient technological development and also to provide expertise and technology to industry, mainly to companies from different sectors of activity, clusters, academia and local public authorities. This is done in order to increase the competitiveness of the regional economy. Given the dynamic of the IT industry, iTech Transilvania Cluster through the involvement in the Digital Innovation Hub brings added value by interlinking the IT companies from region with other companies that activate in other fields of activity as well as non-IT companies.

Currently, iTech Transilvania Cluster by ARIES T is focusing on building the offer (on behalf of its members) for cross-sectorial cooperation with actors from agriculture and on the development of digitalized tools to improve agricultural sector, on robotics & artificial intelligence, creative industries and smart cities development.

We have already started to prepare meetings and information regarding these priority areas on which we plan to work and develop networks with different key actors.

As one of the main organizers of the Open Innovation Conference 2.0 in 2017 in Cluj-Napoca, iTech Transilvania Cluster has in its eco-system 72 members, such as SMEs, public authorities, universities and other important stakeholders, having together over 5.000 employees and a turnover of more than 200 million Euro.
