EuroBoosTEX’s analysis of the textile sector has identified the main trends that will determine the future of the textile industry in the coming years.

The textile sector is a very large industry. Therefore, strategies must consider the whole value chain.

The sector has undergone a series of major transformations over the past decades due to a combination of technological change, increased demand for sustainable products and processes and the growing emergence of international competitors.

The technologies to make this transition already exist, but investment and support are needed to bring circularity and digitalisation to an industrial scale in the European textile sector.
The market research shows that companies need to be supported in this change. In this end, the consortium's support will help to better target investments in innovation, diversification and high quality and/or high-end solutions.

The determinants of productivity include important factors such as technological innovation, the diffusion of new green technologies, the adoption of better management practices and the building of skilled human capital.

However, it is more difficult for SMEs to undertake these activities independently. Thus, companies also need to be supported in training and in exploiting new market opportunities. Furthermore, the adoption of rapid recovery measures must be parallel and complementary to the adoption of a long-term strategy. It is important that the whole textile ecosystem acts collectively: this joint approach will facilitate the adoption of the required measures, maximise potential synergies and achieve better results.
