Capture-1

The popularity of e-scooters has been increasing over the years, especially among the younger generation. It is a great example of adapting to urban mobility solutions with zero CO2 emissions. Even more so, it is a great way to move around a crowded city. In this best practice, the goal of deploying e-scooters as a solution for the sustainability of the urban environment  and reclaiming of urban space was done by:

  • controlled deployment of e-scooters,
  • increase public acceptance of e-scooters.

Scaling of the solution was done as follows:

1) Through workshop and dialogue conferences that changed the view of e-scooters from a toy to a useful supplement to public transport,

2) Tendering the develop the deployment concept,

3) Establishment of a road lease framework to ensure a balanced distribution of e-scooters,

4) Second dialogue conferences,

5) Public tender targetting providers of e-scooters.

This has resulted in increased mobility throughout city centres with reduced land use.
