Financed under the Horizon 2020 framework as part of the Startup Europe initiative of the European Commission, the DeepTech4Good project has been committed to help DeepTech startups accelerate their development and scale up their business across Europe in the four sectors of Health and Wellbeing, Industry 4.0, Smart Mobility and Smart City. Organized by the Spanish project partners secpho and i2CAT, DeepTech4Good#Barcelona marked the end of a successful series of events held by the DeepTech4Good consortium in Paris, Stuttgart and Graz. It was a great matchmaking opportunity between deep tech startups, investors and innovation managers of large companies, held at the Pier01 in the port of Barcelona, that is managed by Barcelona Tech City.

The event succeeded with more than 100 participants, among them 50 startups located in Spain and Europe. Some secpho member companies such as Phase Photonics, HAMAMATSU, ICFO, Laser 2000 and Open Innovation Club members such as Codorniú, Continental, Hospital Germans Trias and Pujol, Lubrizol and Nestlé attended the event as well. It lasted all day and was divided into three main parts:

  • Corporate pitching – 8 large companies (Continental, Correos, Global Omnium GoHub, Lubrizol, Nissan, Standard Profil and Suara) presented their challenges and startups explained potential solutions.

  • The day ended with a business party at the One Ocean Club, considered the most beautiful bar in the world in 2016, where the evening finished in a relaxed way, after a day of intense work.
