The general objective of Smar4Cheese is to promote comprehensive digitization in the dairy sector of cheese factories, through industrial research into innovative online photonics technologies and advanced algorithms that allow improving the sustainability of the sector.

Within the framework of this project, new quality control and decision-making optimization tools will be generated to reduce consumption thanks to AI and the involvement of IoT technologies to check quality parameters. In addition, an AI-equipped platform will be generated that will improve the energy performance of all processes and contribute to optimizing key variables.

The project is led by Clusaga and has the participation of the partner companies Grupo EntrepinaresQueizúarASM SoftMedrar Smart SolutionsANFACO-CECOPESCA e ITG - Instituto Tecnológico de Galicia. Smart4Cheese is an initiative financed by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism through the 2022B call for the AEIs support program.

Project objectives

  • Improve control of traceability through portable NIR and control with App that allows to know in real time the possible deviations and qualities of the milk that affect production.
  • Creation of a BI platform equipped with AI that allows visualization of all key processes to save time in decision making.
  • Definition of critical variables and processes in the plant thanks to the massive collection, affecting the sustainability KPIs of the cheese companies involved.
  • Improvement of the perception of the sustainability of the sector towards the consumer through the selection of products that meet the binomial of low carbon footprint and are more economically sustainable for the company.
