The WindEurope Offshore 2019 event, which brought together the main companies and entities from the offshore wind sector in Europe, was held from 26 to 28 November in Copenhagen. The Basque Energy Cluster organised a joint stand with the presence of 14 Basque companies under the brand ‘Offshore Wind Basque Country’.

Fourteen Basque companies and entities actively participated in the most relevant international offshore wind sector event of the year. The joint stand ‘Offshore Wind Basque Country’ brought together the technological and industrial capacities of leading Basque companies: ALERION, BILBAO PORT, ERREKA, FUNDICIONES GARBI, HAIZEA WIND, HINE, INDUSTRIAS FERRI, IRIZAR FORGE, KIMUA, LAULAGUN, NAUTILUS, SAITEC OFFSHORE, SLINGSINTT and VICINAY MARINE. The Basque Energy Cluster, as promoter of the stand, had its own space next to the Basque Maritime Forum, where it had the opportunity to promote the capacities of the value chain of offshore wind energy in the Basque Country. It also presented several Hazitek projects (Energy and Seapower Model), financed by the Department of Economic Development and Infrastructures of the Basque Government (HAZITEK Programme) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF); and the Durable European project, which is developed under the framework of the European INTERREG ATLANTIC AREA programme.

In the exhibition area, visitors to the joint stand had the opportunity to get to know first hand the latest news from Basque companies regarding the challenges of offshore energies and the collaboration that exists between companies and knowledge agents to tackle this growing sector.

In the conference section of the event, it is worth mentioning the lecture given by David Carrascosa from SAITEC OFFSHORE on Thursday 28, where he announced the start of the BlueSATH project. It consists of the installation of a model floating marine platform in the Abra del Sardinero (Santander) during the first quarter of 2020. The results obtained will be used for the next real scale model (2 MW) which will be installed in BIMEP as of 2021.

WindEurope Offshore is the offshore energy event of the Wind Europe association and is Europe's most important annual event in its field.

During this edition in Copenhagen, an average of 9,000 attendees and more than 430 exhibiting companies from 60 countries were registered. The next edition of WindEurope Offshore will be held in Hamburg. For the first time, the organisers (Hamburg Messe und Congress and WindEurope) will take the conference to the exhibition area to reinforce it, implementing an open conference concept in the centre of the exhibition halls, which will be directly interconnected with the exhibitors. The Basque Energy Cluster will organise a joint stand under the brand "Wind Energy Basque Country" which will be composed of more than 20 companies and entities that offer products and services in the different segments of the wind value chain: manufacturers of components and systems for wind turbines, installation and maintenance services companies, developers of digital solutions, engineering firms and technology centres, among others.
