Cluster Strategy
Mission/Objectives:

Climate neutral and future proof energy systems

Climate change and security of supply require a transition of the energy system. To reduce emissions and enable sustainable solutions. A transition to a modern and resilient system based on green molecules and electrons. To ensure a future-proof energy economy, with new jobs and market opportunities.

Companies, knowledge institutes and governments joined forces as New Energy Coalition to meet this challenge. By teaming knowledge, networks and resources, they work together on a coherent program for sustainable energy innovation and education. To create and share knowhow for a new energy economy.

To enable this, the cluster organization New Energy Coalition engines and represents the coalition by aligning ideas, people and interests. This with a strong foothold in the energy region Northern Netherlands, as testing ground for new energy solutions that can be rolled-out elsewhere.

Details of support services:

Important to note is that the support services provided by New Energy Coalition are directed not only at the core group of direct members and committed participants of the cluster which are mentioned in the numbers overview. These are our paying members with whom we have a direct relationship and contribute to our cluster organisation not only actively but also financially. In addition there is a larger group of committed participants with whom we are working closely with regard to e.g. events organising, project developments, training courses, research projects and studies as well as direct advisory support services. On top of that we have an extensive network with a focus on the Energy Valley region where we collaborate with and are carrying out activities for. This fairly larger group of indirect and direct cluster members in total adds up to approximately 1500.The essential services we are providing range from energy focused thematic networking events; matchmaking events both regionally, nationally and internationally; project development support; advisory support on e.g. business cases and innovation support to improve competitiveness; support for promoting business and research activities; etc.  For a full overview of all activities carried out by the cluster organisation in 2019, please check out New Energy Coalition's annual report of 2019: https://www.newenergycoalition.org/custom/uploads/2020/04/020-015_EV_NEC_Jaarverslag_2019_EN_05_Web.pdf

The key regional funding support programme in which New Energy Coalition is active is the Northern Innovation Agenda in which we carry out activities focused on advisory support services for mainly SME's in the region who want to develop innovations for the energy transition; organise networking events; and support local project development on a regional, national or European scale. The Northern Innovation Agenda is part of the Northern Netherlands Research and Innovation Smart Specialisation Strategy (RIS3) and funded through the European Regional Development Fund.

Promotion
Why should partners choose you for cooperation?:

New Energy Coalition is making the energy transition smarter.  We shape the transition by means of various projects for knowledge development, business development and education. As initiator, coordinator or implementer, we are involved in a wide range of regional, national and international projects and programmes. In these projects and programmes we develop courses, fundamental knowledge or innovations and their integration into the energy system. Thanks to our energy knowledge, our position as the hub of the international energy network and our organisational strength we are able to build strong collaborations and we launch successful projects. We approach the energy transition as a system transformation and from different disciplines. As such, our projects contribute, directly or indirectly, to the development of workable solutions for a sustainable energy system.
