The Standortagentur Tyrol - Agency for Innovation and Technology of Tyrol develops, promotes and markets the Tyrolean economy and science. Thereto it encourages the transfer of new technologies from Tyrolean research institutions to business and connects Tyrolean companies with research establishments. It supports the development of important economic fields in clusters such as mechatronics, life sciences, renewable energy, ICT, etc and directly promotes projects in cooperative research and technology. Additionally it markets the science and business location Tyrol internationally.
Information and communications technology is without doubt one of the growth industries of the last two decades. It is of vital importance for the positive development of the global economy. Th e characteristic feature of this industry is its technological crossover function for all areas of economic life. In the year 2000 the Tirolean federal authorities launched the „Tirol IT Offensive”, permanently changing our region. The introduction of the study of information technology at the University of Innsbruck and of courses in information and communication technology at the higher education institutions were milestones in the development of what is nowadays, just twelve years later, a well-established industry in Tirol.
Our strategy for co-ordinated collaboration, development and expansion is constantly adjusted by our cluster advisory panel. Th is consists of practitioners and researchers from highly varied specialist areas in the network.
