About us

Slovak Plastic Cluster (SPK) - as a trans-regional cluster within the Slovak Republic is concerned of legal entities in field of plastic and other related industries. It was founded in 2009 based on the initiative of private subjects actuating in plastic industry. Since then its founding organizations declared a need of building stronger regional, national and trans-national networks, mutual inter-company cooperation, solving of insufficient education for plastic industry within all levels, and support in research and applied development.

Mission:

By working together, we will gain more, for the present and for the future.

Objectives:

  1. Encourage the involvement of plastic companies in innovation, through collaboration with research organizations, within the sector and across the sector.
  2. Search, promote and, in other ways, promote innovative ideas with a view to putting them not practice.
  3. Participate in promoting and implementing Circular Economy rules (eco design, new material, recycling, etc.).
  4. Encourage the enhancement of skills and development of the innovation potential university students in collaboration with companies and organizations.
  5. Support experimental verification at 5 secondary vocational schools in Slovak Republic since the school year 2020/2021 in 3 new teaching and study fields.
  6. To mediate the education of secondary school teachers for quality assurance in new experimental fields in the field of plastic processing.
  7. Provide information base (information, databases, market surveys, fairs, B2B, etc.) to support networking in the Slovak Republic but also outside the country.
  8. Encourage business cost cutting through joint purchases (raw materials and energy).
  9. Continue to work with international partners to create new products, to exchange information, to promote collaboration among cluster members.
  10. Increase the quality of cluster human resource management and support cluster member training.

Achievements

- Preparation and testing of Electronic professional 3-lingual dictionary in field of plastics processing.

- Vocational training program for setter of injection molding (content, curricula, coursebook, method and forms of this educational programe it is well comparable to similar educational products in other european countries).

- Guide of Work Positions, Qualifications and Educational Standards in Plastics Industry (comparable to similar Work Positions in other european countries - mostly Austia, France,United Kingdom of Great Briain and Ireland, Germany, etc. ).

- EU Commission DG Education and Culture - project EDMOULD was awarded as one of 13 projects Best Practices (2012 Brussels)

Name & description

Katarina Ikrenyiova - Member of SPK Presidium responsible for vocational training and Executive Director of SPK till January 2020. She has completed university education in psychology, pedagogy, marketing, sociology, economics, management, and human resources (Doctor of Philosophy 1991). For more than 20 years, she has been advising on the development and management of companies, human resources, and participates in the creation of new educational programs. She has more than 15 years of experience in managing national projects and has prepared and managed several international projects. Since 2016 she has been the Executive Director of SPK.

Darina Machovicova - Project Manager of SPK, graduated from University of Zilina  - The Faculty of Operation and Economics of Transport and Communications, Department of Air Transport, Engineering Title (Ing.)

With experience in the field of cluster, performing the tasks of project and financial manager.

Working on national and international projects. Creation and coordination of commercial projects and projects funded by grants.

Cooperation with schools and educational organizations, Cooperation with centers of technology transfer. Creating an international network, networking within the employer network. Manage and coordinate national and international projects with opportunity to learn and develop new skills and enhance those existing ones.

Jan Vaclav - Member of the Presidium of SPK and Director of the Trenčín Regional Office of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He graduated from a technical university. He has been managing a regional office in the region for more than 10 years, known for its textile and mechanical production, and now for metal and rubber and plastics industries. In the Presidium of SPK he guarantees the area of international cooperation and projects.

Project name

SPC participated in a project “EDMOULD” within the LLP in 2009-2011 which was dealing with vocational education program for setters in injection moulding. SPC managed the project Transfer of Qualifications and Learning Standards in Plastic Sector StandPlast VET (2013-1-SK1-LEO05-06359 (2013-2015). The Project StandPlast VET has been granted a financial contribution from the EU Lifelong learning programme Leonardo da Vinci - Transfer of Innovation.
