About us

Strategic competence development The cluster’s aim is to develop strategic competences in automotive. Global competition in this sector puts a lot of pressure on OEM’s and suppliers to deliver quality solutions at competitive prices. Continuous process and production improvement, employee productivity and motivation, new technology competences and local supplier networks are key success factors. The coordination consortium organizes best practices exchange meetings, brokerage events, thematic workshops, analyses and benchmarking surveys in two domains: 1) Human Resources and Labor Market issues 2) Innovation and Cooperation We apply a bottom-up approach, which means that most of our activities meet the direct needs and challenges being faced by the cluster members. We bring together directors, engineers, scientists and thematic experts to discuss and solve problems and to create practical solutions.

EACN for Joint Industrial Modernisation Investments is a project submitted by 8 partners of the European Automotive Cluster Network EACN. It aims at initiating common R&D and Joint Investment projects between members from different European countries in the field of industrial modernization in the automotive industry, with emphasis on (1) Virtualisation of planning processes, (2) Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, (3) Elasticity of production processes and (4) Skills and Competences. SA&AM is a Project Partner and Work Package 2 leader which focused on Joint Partnership Strategy. Objectives of WP2 included:

  • To define the major drivers and motivators for industrial modernisation in the automotive industry
  • To prepare a European strategy related to four defined topics of industrial modernisation directed to SMEs in the automotive industry including: an EACN Partnership Agreement, a map of envisaged cluster collaboration opportunities and value chain linkages, an implementation roadmap and a marketing plan
  • To commonly elaborate a support service based on best practices to secure a homogeneous approach for smooth implementation of the actions foreseen in the roadmap

The Katowice Special Economic Zone, the SA&AM Cluster coordinator is involved, in partnership with the Polish Chamber of the Automotive Industry and the Association of Automotive Employers and Industrial Products, in a project called the Automotive Sector Competence Council (including electromobility). The aim of the project is to come up with solutions and align the education system to the needs of the automotive sector by engaging with business, educational and administration representatives, and by drawing on their experience, research results and feedback.

By meeting its core objective, the project will mitigate the problems identified as part of the Knowledge Education Development Operational Programme, directly supporting other project objectives, such as:

  1. organizing the operations of the Automotive Sector Competence Council (including electromobility);
  2. obtaining information from businesses regarding their professional qualifications;
  3. disseminating information regarding demand professional qualifications in the sector;
  4. initiating and developing cooperation in the field of integrating education/science with businesses (integration of education and employers);
  5. coming up with recommendations on aligning workforce qualifications to the existing needs of the sector.

In this project Katowice Special Economic Zone, the SA&AM Cluster’s coordinator, is responsible for:

  1. Obtaining information from businesses regarding in-demand professional qualifications;
  2. Initiating and developing cooperation in the field of integrating education/science with businesses.
