Cluster Strategy
Mission/Objectives: 

The National Food cluster (NaMUK) is an Association of Lithuanian producers founded in 2006m It has 23 members which includes not only various field food and agronomy field producers but also scientific organisations e.g. Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry Institute of Horticulture. The cluster members in collaboration between each other implement innovative products to market and supports each other in national and international trades and knowledges. 

The main objectives of the cluster is development of Lithuania’s food industry and promotion of greater competitiveness, innovation, entrepreneuriship and partnership between members and association.

Main activities:

1) Uniting cluster members into a network of companies creating high added value

2) Coordinating the activities of cluster members in developing and manufacturing innovative products and cycle economy

3) Encouraging cooperation and exchange of information between cluster members

4) Initiating joint projects and undertaking training to upgrade the skills and qualifications of cluster members

5) Carrying our joint marketing and publicity

6) Encouraging participation of cluster members in participation in national and international exhibitions

7) Organising business missions by members of the cluster to seek customers and partners

8)Collaboration with research and educational institutions to achieve common goals

Participation in Funded Support Programmes:

  1.  Ruta UAB has implemented the project development of Funtional Food prototypes Intended to meet the specific Needs of Different groups of People, under the measure „Intelektas LT. Joint Science-business Projects“, and developed Greenz products, an innovative line of easy to consume snacks created from vegetable bio-active fractions. It was collaboration between cluster members and result of successful networking. Moreover, Rūta UAB in 2018 was awarded the gold medal for innovatiness at the exhibition Agrobalt for Greenz snacks.
  2. MB „Ekosula“ in collaboration with Institute of Horticulture and Agency for Science, Innovation and technology implementing the project of industrialising birch sap production and developing added value products for national and international commercialiazation

Success Story / Achievements: 
  1. Ruta UAB has implemented the project development of Functional Food prototypes Intended to meet the specific Needs of Different Groups of People, under the measure „Intelektas LT. Joint Science-business Projects“, and developed Greenz products, an innovative line of easy to consume snacks created from vegetable bio-active fractions. It was a collaboration between cluster members and the result of successful networking.   2. MB „Ekosula“ in collaboration with the Institute of Horticulture and Agency for Science, Innovation, and technology implementing the project of industrializing birch sap production and developing added-value products.
  3. SatiMed UAB in collaboration with the Institute of Horticulture developed few functional products production and optimization. Networking meetings organized by the National food cluster made the connection with Mėlynė UAB, Rūta UAB, to the consequence prototypes were carry out the pilot and mass production. A result, three functional products succesfully passed the first commercialization step to China market.
