About us

MetaIndustry4's mission is focus on:

Promote the competitive improvement of the Asturian metal industry and sectoral ecosystem, facilitating their integration into the main Global Value Chains, improving human and technological resources and focusing on innovation and cooperation with a clear orientation towards accelerating the pace of growth in turnover and profitability.

The strategic objectives for MetaIndustry4 are:

  • Have knowledge of trends and market opportunities
  • Promote joint participation in the most advanced possible links within global value chains
  • Improve competitive position of the Asturian metal sector in markets of interest
  • Have knowledge about industry technology trends
  • Promote the development of collaborative innovation projects in the KET's field.

Achievements

MetaIndustry4 is an multidisciplinary cluster, aligned with the Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialisation of Asturias (RIS3), it aims to create a favorable environment for cooperation and innovation to enable regional companies linked to the metal industry access global value chains.

We aspire to become the main forum and collaborative working tool for all those involved in the metal industry with an interest in improving their competitiveness based on innovation and internationalization and sufficient capacity for agents:

  • Participate R & D collaborative.
  • Integrate new advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Participate in a link in global value chains.
  • Manage the adequacy of its human resources to changes arising from new forms of management, organization, collaboration, use of technology ...

The characterization of MetaIndustry4 space of influence is defined by its members, their profile responds to the following terms:

  • Companies industry Metal Asturias (having at least working centers in the region) that have sufficient  organizational structure in order to participate in R + D + i proyects, to need to manage the possible adaptation of its personnel to the future requirements of the sector or to be interested in internationalization. 
  • Other business companies, scientific-technological, logistical or institutional agents related to the value chain or the cluster strategy such as:
    • Providers of Asturias metal industry ensions (raw materials, supplies, equipment, transportation and logistics, professional services ...) and especially those directly related to the implementation of technologies for digitization and advanced manufacturing.
    • Organizations of scientific and technological environment directly related to the priorities of the cluster (advanced manufacturing, digitalization,), for example, PRODINTEC or CTIC Foundation the main Technological Centers in these fields in Asturias.
    • Tne link to the public institutions responsible for the design and development support policies directly related to the priorities of the cluster (IDEPA, ASTUREX ...)
    • The main regional logistics infrastructure for the metal industry (port of Gijón ...).
    • As well as other business associations that represent the metal industry or the ICT companies in Asturias, such as FEMETAL or Cluster TIC.
