About us

The Foundation’s mission is to develop collaboration networks in the area of life sciences in order to pool and exploit the potential of individuals and institutions – including businesses, universities, independent research units, business support organizations and local authorities in the Małopolska region.

The Foundation supports entrepreneurship and innovative activities connected with life sciences, and works to create suitable conditions for effective commercialization of the outcomes of scientific research at universities and R&D institutes.

The Foundation also concerns itself with pooling and expanding resources and expertise contributed by organizations working in the life sciences domain, to facilitate effective exploitation of knowledge and opportunities associated with the ongoing development of innovative knowledge-based economy.

The Foundation acts in support of the Małopolska Bio-Region, which represents an ecosystem of innovation. To this end the Foundation develops a collaborative network, bringing together partners from six distinct “interest groups”:

  1. Innovative companies working in the field of biotechnology and life sciences (BioF group; 34 partners).
  2. Companies and institutions which provide support for other innovative enterprises (Biz group; 14 partners).
  3. Healthcare providers (Med group; 11 partners).
  4. Scientific institutions engaged in R&D activities (R&D group; 7 partners)
  5. Universities and schools engaged in scientific and educational activities (Edu group; 6 partners).
  6. Regional authorities and self-government (GOV group; 3 partners).

Klaster LifeScience Krakow offers the access to a well-organized cooperation network operating in both scientific and business sections of the life science sector.

The network already consists of institutions of diverse type, structure and size:

  • Service and manufacturing companies of a widely understood life science sector (biotechnology, environmental protection, public health, clinical research etc.),
  • Universities and research institutes, employing highly qualified personnel specializing in the life sciences,
  • Specialist hospitals with an excellent staff, equipment and expertise for all diseases and treatments.

Marketing And Communication Tools On The Internet

The offer includes Klaster’s basic communication media, such as lifescience.pl portal and lifescienceopenspace.com blog, as well as other publications and catalogs published systematically (e.g. the Klaster’s bulletin) or occasionally (various conference and fair papers e.g. “Global Biomaterial Directory”).

Tools Of Cooperation Through The Internet

Each Klaster’s Partner obtains a business account and Internet address at our domain – lifescience.pl, that will enable the access to Klaster’s Intranet on the www.Podio.com.  Currently, the system offers:

  • KLSK Intranet – dedicated to provide all necessary information about projects, events, enterprises, institutions, ideas and other dynamically defined operations
  • KLSK Funds and Financing – contains everyday news concerning funds, programs, contests and presents a variety of other possibilities for financing from official domestic  and foreign sources
  • KLSK Global innovation Networks – includes the news, data about events and projects as well as invitations to collaborate at an international level

Tthe platform https://tto.lifescience.pl is an adequate tool to support the development of innovative projects and promote them on the international arena. The platform encourages the development of innovative projects, commencing with the pre-phase until commercialization of a project in compliance with worldwide acceptable standards and regulations.

Conferences, Courses, Workshops And Seminars Organized

Klaster organizes open workshops, courses, seminars and other events concerning innovations and entrepreneurship which are mainly (but not exclusively) dedicated to employees of companies and institutions – Klaster’s Partners. In particular, our offer includes periodical events :

  • Klaster Open Day – event which takes a place every year in spring
  • Life Science Open Space – international forum of cooperation in life science domain (it takes a place every year in October)

Projects And Programs –Cooperation Options

Partners have a possibility to participate in activities of chosen “thematic working groups”, whose objective is to coordinate collaborative activities concerning chosen subject. Klaster’s proposal includes two opportunities:

  • Project Marketing – usage of Klaster as a partner as well as platform for promotion of the results of projects;
  • Foundation – as Klaster’s leader may be a partner in realization collaborative projects
