About us

PROFILE

We believe in the potential of innovative ideas that can bring added value both at individual and community level. Therefore, we have gathered at the same table people with different complementary skills in order to create an entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Our cluster members are top players in their fields and promote innovation and creativity in everything they do. Their goal is to grow creative industries in the Central Region and the Region to become one of the most dynamic region in Eastern Europe from this point of view.

MISSION VISION

Brasov is in full transformation process! In order to maintain global competitiveness, Brasov should become a Metropolis of Knowledge where innovation and new technologies become part of the community  foundation.

Our mission is to encourage creativity and new technologies among local companies, research and higher education institutions, to create a proper ecosystem for entreprenorial initiatives and to encourage innovation and global connectivity through local products.

Our vision is to transform Brasov into an important economic and technological center for Transylvania and the entire country. All of this can be accomplished by supporting the entreprenorial initiatives, attracting investment, ecouraging innovation and connecting to the global market.

The city will become a technological hub that will create the framework for developing our first multinational companies, innovation will become a reality embraced by the community and practiced at any level and in any social context.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

01 DEVELOP THE CLUSTER FOR INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY AS A PLATFORM FOR CREATIVE INDUSTRIES AT

REGIONAL LEVEL 

This objective aims: organisational development of the management entity of the Cluster and ensure its evolution from an emerging to an innovative Cluster, financial sustainability of the management entity of the Cluster and the Cluster itself, improving representativeness in the Region’s economy, providing the needed infrastructure for the development of ICT and creative industries.

02 IMPROVING THE IMAGE OF BRASOV AS A HUB OF CREATIVE INDUSTRIES AT A NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL LEVEL.

In order to achieve this objective it is  necessary to develop a local brand for the creative industries and ICT, and to promote this brand at a local, national and international level. Also, it is necessary to develop specific events at a national and international level.

03 STRENGTHENING ICT SECTOR WITHIN THE LOCAL ECONOMY.

The aim of this objective is to encourage the establishment of new SMEs,  facilitate the technology transfer and skills among cluster’s members and  partners, completing the industry’s value chain, increasing the level of globalization of our local industry and developing flagship projects that promote member’s technologies and innovations.

04 INCREASING THE SKILLS AND THE TECHNOLOGICAL LEVEL SPECIFIC TO THE ICT SECTOR AT A REGIONAL LEVEL.

The objective aims to improve cooperation between companies and Transylvania University, to increase the local capacity for ICT training  and to consolidate Brașov’s capacity to attract the needed resources for ICT industry development.

OPEN DAYS 2015 | Workshop “Itelligent Cities” within the 13th networking event in Bruxelles.

DAYS OF CLUSTERS | 150+ representatives from leading Clusters in Eastern-South Europe are coming to Brașov to share their ideas and know how, to connect with the local framework and to identify smart opportunities.

DESIGN DRIVEN ROMANIA | Design Driven Romania is the first from a series of national conference to focus on design as an essential asset for companies and government alike. This debate platform was innitiated by ALT Brasov

SUCCESS IN NUMBERS

30 famous IT&C companies,  active members of ALT Brașov, with a huge role in the process of making the Cluster more competitive at a regional and national level.

2500 people are employed in these companies and have an amazing chance to develop, personally and professionally

2 successful editions of ALT Festival – the first technology festival in Romania, with more than 1,000 people involved.

17 teams were part of the ALT Start first edition – accelerator for creative ideas based on technology.

30 mentors and specialists helped those teams to speed up their evolution.

8 international conferences focused on relevant topics for ALT Brașov which our Clusters attended.

6 relevant meetings for the Cluster’s activity (financing, research and innovation opportunities).

5 workshops dedicated to ALT Brașov’s members for a better understanding of how the Cluster works.

150 big players from Clusters in South-Eastern Europe were present in Brașov, thanks to Days of Clusters 2015.

OUR PORTFOLIO

Our desire is to do more than pitching great companies to join our journey. The main objective of Innovation and Technology Cluster is to develop a strong portofolio of creative products, aligned to global trends and markets.

From day one, ALT Brașov succeeded in building smart and curageous projects, which could generate economic growth, but also efficient to positively influence the local community as a hole (business owners, public and private institutions, startups and entrepreneurs, universities or any kind of legal framework which respects the Cluster's mission).

In few words, ALT Brașov portolio contains the following initiatives:

ALT FESTIVAL | First Technology Festival in Romania. Six days full of events dedicated to people who love and have the desire to better understand how technology works and can make our lives easier. The target of ALT Festival is very diverse: from creatives to entrepreneurs, from architects to engineers, from business people to real gamers players.

ALT START | Mentorship program for wantpreneurs. Six days of intense mentorship and training provided by top specialists of international reputation. Their goal is to help the participants to develop from scratch an idea into a successful business.

MENTORING AND COACHING | Supporting startups in ICT sector is a priority for the Cluster. Experienced members together with experts in coaching share their motivation, experience and lessons learned.

INTERNATIONALIZATION | Project development for local sustainable development based on technology.

THEMATIC EVENTS | Quarterly events. Events dedicated to emerging trends. Their goal is to discuss business opportunities and to stimulate business cooperation among cluster members.

Innovation and Technology Cluster aspires to build and consolidate a strong community of specialists with complementary abilities both in terms of members it wants to attract, and the public present at envisaged events. october 2013 | CLUSTER DEVELOPMENT PLAN. SUBMISSION OF THE FIRST FUNDING PROJECT. Project objectives: increasing the national competitiveness of local/ regional ICT industry and transforming the Innovation and Technology Cluster into an innovative cluster.

june 2014 | “START FOR INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY” PROJECT APPROVAL. the project was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and State Budget, Sectoral Operational Programme “Increase of Economic Competitiveness””, under financing contract no. 1CLT/800023/ 19.05.2014 signed with the Ministry of European Funds as Management Authority for Sectoral Operational Programme “Increase of Economic Competitiveness”.

Further information

The purpose of participating to these events was to offer Cluster’s members the opportunity of other in their field as well as opening a platform for networking and cooperation.
Internet and Mobile World Event and CeBIT offered members the opportunity to develop several partnerships. The members present to this event were able to identify new trends, technologies and potential partners that can help in business development in the areas of 3D / VR, textile scanning, big time GPS tracking, document processing, trade etc. The events have also resulted in better knowledge of other members and discuss issues of common interest related to research and production, in order to develop joint project proposals.
International Cluster Meeting was an important and necessary step towards cooperation with other clusters in the Balkan region. The meeting brought together international Cluster managers and members of 14 clusters in areas of education, creative industries, tourism, design, technology, wellness, IT and e-business from Turkey, Romania, Serbia and Bulgaria. This meeting helped us build cooperation and partnerships for accessing new funds related to Clusters. Following this meeting Innovation and Technology Cluster joined “Cluster House” network that includes more than 170 clusters, institutions and organizations from all the Balkans, and also initiated a partnership with clusters from Croatia, Italy, Finland, Greece and Bulgaria in order to submit a research project on research&innovation on Horizon 2020.
Cluster for Innovation and Technology attended Cluster World Congress 2015 held in Dabrowa Gornicza in Poland, along with other 150 clusters from Poland, Spain, Germany, Hungary, Ukraine, etc. During the event were discussed European and national policies for clusters, the role of public administration in developing clusters and the economic impact that clusters can have on the regions in which it operates. Participation offered cluster members access to a series of conferences and workshops, like "Fundamentals of excellent cluster management", organized by the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis that made more clear to us the importance in obtaining Bronze label.
