Achievements

Smart Innovation Norway is leading the first and only national cluster for applied artificial intelligence (Cluster for Applied AI) in Norway, representing 64 partners covering the entire value chain for applied AI. There cluster has actors from the startup landscape and more established companies, from public sector, academia and investors. The goal of the cluster is to accelerate development and commercialization of AI based technology and solutions, thus closing the gap between research and commercialization. The cluster is working closely with both vital partners in Norway, such as Norwegian open AI Lab and NORA, but also Nordic and international partners such as AI Sweden and the state of Telangana in India. By making vital competence available for a wide range of industries and domains, thus helping companies develop and grow, the cluster aims to contribute to value creation, new jobs and a more sustainable society.

Further, Smart Innovation Norway has had great success with its incubator in recruiting new AI startups and scaleups, attracting capital and developing and delivering successful programs for scaleups and investors. The positive development has led to a two-level advancement in the grant model of Siva, which proves the proficiency level of the Incubator, and means that the capacity for accepting startup companies will almost double during 2021.

The main focus of the Incubator is to recruit and develop ICT and AI-driven startups and scaleups, and is working closely with Cluster for Applied AI in developing the value chain for applied artificial intelligence in Norway. Both Cluster for Applied AI and the Incubator have an international orientation, and seek collaboration in the Nordics and Europe so that we together can leverage on collaborative efforts.
