Mission/Objectives:

The CLEANTECH Initiative Eastern Germany (CIO) is a Cluster for cleantech entities - SMEs, global players and R&D providers -   in sustainable technology. It brings together stakeholders from business, science, government and specialised partner clusters, drawing on both new knowledge and established techniques.

It's main target is initiation of innovation and internationalization projects, bringing the right partners - most of the cluster consisting of small and medium sizes enterprises, which are techological strong but completely focussed on their respective niche - to tackle complex challenges, nationally and internationallly, and to accelerate transfer of newst research results into industrial application.

This, CIO's main activity could be summarized as pooling specialists with complementary expertise to address often complex projects.

Flanked by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the CIO is not only free to use, but can also facilitate vital access to wider information sources and stakeholders for its specialists. This political dimension is further reinforced by the CIO-HUB, bringing together the active support of the regional business development agencies in Eastern Germany, and Germany Trade and Invest – the economic development agency of the Federal Republic of Germany.
