CIMES, Creating Integrated MEchanical Systems
CIMES is a french « pôle de compétitivité » (competitiveness cluster = innovation hub) devoted to mechanical engineering born in September 2019 when Mont-Blanc Industries and ViaMéca merged. Located in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Nouvelle-Aquitaine regions, it represents more than 30% of the French mechanical workforce. CIMES’s main mission is to coordinate the highly-innovative ecosystem gathering more than 500 stakeholders from industry, academic and research communities in order to think, develop and industrialize processes, products and services in the framework of Industry 4.0 and with the aim of accelerating innovation and enabling the emergence of innovative collaborative projects.
The strategic roadmap of the organisation is structured around three main topics:
- Optimised engineering for sustainable systems.
- Engineering for Manufacturing, Materials and Surfaces,
- Integrated robotics and productive efficiency,
At the European level, CIMES has the ambition of being the major innovation hub for mechanical engineering and integration of innovative technologies devoted to production. The organisation is already a member of the S3 platforms Smart sensors for Agri-food and 3D-printing and of several European projects (CONNSENSYS, S3FOOD, DIGIFOF, BLOCK4COOP…). Finally, CIMES is also recognized as a fully operational DIH dedicated to manufacturing.
